Snow in NYC

Snow forces us to slow down. Things get quiet. It is disruptive. A hardship to many, for sure, but it passes quickly. Disruption has become the norm in the 21st Century. But snow is unique in how it leads us to unexpected play and joy and to appreciate the changed environment around us. We offer each other a little more grace - extra time to get someplace, a helping hand or shovel, an errand for someone in need. It feels like one of the only communal experiences we have left.
